Lay Ministries
Alpha Programme
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.
What happens at an Alpha session?
No two Alpha courses look exactly the same, but most follow a simple format:
- Welcome & hospitality (often food/tea/coffee)
- A talk or video episode exploring a key question of faith
- Small group conversation where you can share thoughts, ask questions, or just listen
What topics does Alpha explore?
Each session looks at a different “big question” and introduces core themes of Christian faith—such as Who is Jesus?, Why did Jesus die?, How can I have faith?, Why and how do I pray?, Why and how do I read the Bible?, and Who is the Holy Spirit?
Many Alpha courses also include a dedicated Alpha Day or Weekend, which gives space to explore the Holy Spirit more deeply, alongside prayer and reflection.
Who is Alpha for?
- People exploring faith for the first time
- People with questions about Christianity
- People returning to faith after time away
- Anyone who wants to discuss life, faith, and meaning with others
